My Bio

Hello, my name is Carlota and I'm a training paleoartist/illustrator.

Like most artists, I've loved drawing and painting since I have memory, and since there's very little else I can imagine myself doing all my life without eventually getting bored of it, I've decided to pursue art and illustration as a career. I went to art school in Guimarães and took a one-year course on Scientific Illustration at the University of Aveiro, where I decided paleoart was where my heart was at, as I've been obsessed with dinosaurs since childhood thanks to movies such as Jurassic Park (my beloved) and Land Before Time, as well as the still amazing though outdated Walking with Dinosaurs documentary.

I'm a book nerd, I love animals just as much as dinosaurs (especially reptiles and birds) and enjoy metal, 80's post-punk and other weird indie music. I adore Greek and Norse mythology, watching movies, and try much too hard to be Goth™. Allegedly, I wear too much black.

That's it. I've had it.

Hello, dear followers. For the time being, I have deleted all my artwork off of Deviantart and will not be submitting any new paintings in the near future. Maybe never again. I've thought long and hard about moving away from this website after the advent of genAI earlier this year (or as I prefer to call it, plagiarism machines), and although it is difficult, I have decided to go through with it. I've been using dA since I was in high school, nearly two decades ago, to publish my work, made so many good friends and got exposed to so much beautiful and inspiring art. I found some of my all-time favorite artists right here, so to see the sorry state it finds itself in these days, how far it has fallen... I can't go on anymore. I've had enough. Until this supposed "art website" gets its shit together and I've Glazed all my art, my profile will look like the barren wasteland it is at the moment. Maybe I'll come back. Probably won't.
